defunktbot7/19/26 - Day 6 of My Art Journey! ✏️ Soooo I haven’t been consistent, as one can obviously tell from the lack of uploads, but I haven’t given up! I drew my favorite character, Allan, from #SmilingFriends in his Magical Girl cosplay from Season 1, Episode 6. This was just for fun lol, I love Smiling Friends tho! ^o^ Sad it ended, but all good things must come to an end 😄 Bruh I realized I need better lighting in these photos LOL ———————————— #pencil #allan #fanart #traditionalart

defunktbot7/3/26 - Day 2 of My Art Journey ✏️ Tried my hand at a chibi art style this time just for fun: https://youtu.be/hDG31WXiVQs?si=u5i7U0xeC4jyofTL Twilight Sparkle is my fave character (call me basic), so I just used a reference to draw her :3 Fluttershy is pretty GOATed (🐐) too, so might draw her in the future~ ———————————— #mlp #twilightsparkle #anime #chibi #traditionalart

defunktbot7/5–7/6/26 - Day 4 & 5 of My Art Journey ✏️ Finally added ink and color to my drawings!!! Messed up the proportions and ran out of space tho 😅 Also showed my process: from sketch to line art to the final colored product. Anyway, here’s Yoon Karma from Plaything! :D YOON KARMA SUPREMACY‼️🙇🙇🙇 ———————————— #plaything #yoonkarma #traditionalart #drawing #pencil

defunktbot7/2/26 - Day 1 of Beginning My Art Journey! ✏️ Finally started my traditional art drawing after years of putting it off. I’ve always wanted to draw, but I've always given up because I wasn’t happy with the results or because the process took too long. To git gud, I’m gonna try drawing at least once a day every day for an indefinite time! Maybe until I am good enough to start transferring my trad art skills to digital art, since I do eventually want to get there. I hope y'all can follow me along on this exciting journey! ^^ I followed a “how to draw an anime girl” tutorial found here: https://youtu.be/0nB0i-PfP4I?si=GGIBnSMHPEN4wgGh Maybe in the future I can draw some OCs ^^ ———————————— #animegirl #anime #traditionalart #pencil #drawing

defunktbotUH WEST O‘AHU SENIOR CAPSTONE STUDENT: RICHIE GALACGAC (A #LeewardCC Transfer) Code or No Code? Richie’s capstone explores the evolving role of web designers in a world increasingly shaped by AI and no-code/low-code platforms. His research argues that while these tools make website creation more accessible, they fall short of replicating the creativity, empathy, and problem-solving that human designers bring to the table. Web design isn’t just about structure and functionality—it’s about crafting meaningful, human-centered experiences. This semester, Richie is putting theory into practice by building multiple websites, comparing the efficiency of AI-assisted tools with traditional methods. His project aims to showcase the value of adaptability, continuous learning, and the irreplaceable spark that only human designers can bring. 👨‍💻 Built by humans. Enhanced by AI. #HumanCenteredDesign #CapstoneProject #WebDesignInTheAgeOfAI #CreativityVsCode #UHWOACM #SeniorCapstone #NoCodeDebate #AIAndDesign #StudentInnovator #UHSystemStudents #LeewardCommunityCollege

"During his time in our Creative Media program, he focused on real and honest questions like how might AI be reshaping web design and what that really means for designers moving forward. What I appreciate most about Richie is that he doesn’t just think about it, he does the work. Even while holding a full-time role in the court system, he continues to build his UX/UI practice on the side showing just how committed he is to this."

— Sharla Hanaoka, Academy for Creative Media at West Oʻahu Division Chair and Senior Capstone Professor

"Collaborating with Richie has definitely brought innovative ideas to help support our community-based program for children and youth. Over several years as a dedicated volunteer, he has displayed a keen eye for detail and fresh insights while remaining deeply invested in our collective, long-term goals of celebrating culture among the youth. Beyond the excellent quality of his work, his generous, team-first attitude and collaborative spirit have made him an invaluable cornerstone of our program. We are blessed to have him in our program."

— Imelda “Tita Ime” Gasmen, Founder & Project Director, Kabataan: Filipino for Kids Hawaii

"Richie worked as a Student Office Assistant in the Academic Affairs Office at UH West Oʻahu and was a dependable and responsible member of our team. He handled office tasks with care, stayed positive, and was always open to feedback and advice to improve his work."

— Norinna-Lynne Ili, Academic Affairs Office Secretary at UHWO

"Richie was one of the most enthusiastic and intellectually engaged students in my Japan Cool: Anime, Manga & Film course at UH West Oʻahu. His passion for visual storytelling and understanding of what makes art compelling and engaging make him a natural fit for design work."

About me🙍‍♂️

Aloha, I'm Richie!👋

I am a Filipino-Chinese American aspiring to be a web and graphic designer specializing in user experience and user interface (UX/UI design), branding, and responsive design, based in Waipahu, Hawaiʻi, USA.

I graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi—West Oʻahu (UHWO) with a major in Creative Media and a Design and Media concentration in Spring 2025. My passion for web design began in sixth grade, when I created a joke website, and grew further when I built a first-place-winning National History Day website in the district in seventh grade.

I worked as a Judicial Clerk with the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary at the Honolulu District Court in the Traffic Violations Bureau for a year where I learned invaluable skills and more about the judicial system, court process, and tickets. I hope to make web and graphic design my day job someday.

If you’re curious, I love reading and translating manga ("scanlation" or scan + translation) 📖, listening to alternative music 🎶 (Cage the Elephant 🐘 is my fave band, but currently obsessed with Whitey 🤍! Stream Melophobia and the Great Shakes!), and taking long walks and hikes while having meaningful conversations🚶‍♂️in my free time. I also recently began drawing ✏️ and cardmaking 🃏 as hobbies!

Fun facts: I can type up to 120 words per minute (WPM) ⌨️, my scanlation group is called Piku Scans ✒️, and I am a parent to two spoiled cats: Lorax Junior (LJ), an orange kitten, and Aries, a gray cat 🐈!

If you have a project in mind or want to discuss design ideas, get in touch, and let's create something great together!
